Die Glocken von Bamberg

Woke today to the ringing of the bells. Bamberg has over 40 churches and the bells ring over much of the town every 15 minutes from 6am to 6pm. Not the usual single clang, clang, but half and full peal for anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes. Wonderful.

Spent most of the day wandering the narrow lanes and allyways around the medieval portion of the city. We did not have to walk far to get out of the tourist crush and found lovely quiet areas to stroll along. Hiked up one of Bamberg’s several hills to an original brew house and biergarten for a late lunch of "Frankonian Fare". Tried another version of the smoked beer and it was much better, more like drinking cold burnt toast... (actually, it was pleasant).

Mix of sun and cloud today finishing off with a thunder and lightning storm over dinner.

Tomorrow we are off to Praha!
