We have arrived..... Actually a while ago, but haven't had internet until now and the wireless does not reach to our room so this will be a short one.
The flights were uneventful and on schedule except for the missing chair saga, as usual. We insisted we wanted someone to eyeball the chair to confirm it was on the plane and someone eventually showed up with an iphone picture of it for us to confirm.
3 hour layover for the train and then off to Bamberg. the trains are amazing, new, modern, quiet, smooth, fast, looonnnng, 10 - 20 cars, etc. Zooming over quiet country side and through small villages.
Bamberg is a quaint town with many old buildings and quirky streets. we had a short nap and then a wander until Laurel's batteries gave way, then a dinner of mixed grilled sausage, sour kraut, and other mixed meat with rye bread. Earlier Edward tried the customary Bamberg Smoked Beer; not to his taste, much like drinking a cold campfire....

*sigh* Sounds wonderful already - except for the missing chair situation of course. You'd think that would actually go right one of these times, just by chance!
